The communication between departments is extremely poor quality.

My first years was excellent. The next to years were extremely poor. The person from the first year did not communicate and she changed departments. For the next two years our taxes were done wrong and we had to tell them what they did wrong. Our gains and losses were not followed for the next years.

However. they have you sign a contract that states when mistakes are made client is required to pay. That means Stockman Ryan and Cast do not take responsibility for their lack of communication and mistakes. It felt like it was deliberate clause in their contract. They make a mistake and we pay for it. How convenient for them to deliberately make a mistake and then charge the client to two thirds of a years processing fees. They state the have someone reviewing your taxes after they are completed. The quality checking was worthless. Two failed tax processing years out of three. Their calculations said we needed to pay quarterly taxes and a state tax. Now Colorado state says we were not required to pay the taxes The Federal quarterly taxes were not required either. The only way they can redeem their failed practices is to return the 800, we paid for their failed communications and two years failed tax reporting. They also need to pay for their own mistakes, which would minimize their mistakes.

Should you want your taxes to be done accurately and the individual doing your taxes held accountable, Stockman Ryan and Cast is definitely not the company to go to

I received an email from SKR today, January 9, indicating that the cpa that helped me with my s-corp and personal taxes left the company.

Their email stated "While working through the reassignment process, we have determined that we do not have the staffing to absorb all of the clients that Chris was assigned while providing the level of service we strive to provide. Due to these capacity restraints, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to assist you with your tax filings for the upcoming year and onward."

Chris informed me that he was leaving the firm about 2 months ago. It would have been nice to have received this email at that point in time.

Warning....they seem to be overloaded with clients and are unbale to manage their workload if as little as one cpa leaves the firm. If you don't fit their needs it's likely they will drop you at the last minute as well.

I am a W2 employee with a standardized 1040 who was charged ~$1,500 to have my taxes filed by SKR+Co. The invoice indicated ~9 billing hours, which is extremely excessive for such a basic filing. Going forward I will be avoiding SKR+Co due to their aggressive pricing and unreasonable billing hours.
