The Law Office of Diane Kaiser came highly recommended by friends of mine who are attorneys in a different area of legal practice. I have worked with Diane Kaiser and her Paralegal/LLP, Cheri Kaser, on and off for a couple of years due to some ongoing family law challenges. I have found both Diane and Cheri to be extremely knowledgeable and professional in their legal practice. They can be very matter of fact and straight forward and that trait has supported me to make informed decisions about the case and better able to navigate the legal process - I appreciate their candor. I received legal advice and legal advocacy that has met and exceeded my expectations. The legal team has been very responsive to calls (that are often of no charge to me), emails, and working collaboratively with me in every aspect of my legal case, such as drafting motions and responses to opposing parties. The legal fees are reasonable compared to other firms in their area of practice.

It appears that most of the negative reviews posted here are from parties that were not actually receiving legal services from the firm, had a dubious understanding of legal practice, and/or were opposing parties on a case Diane and Cheri were supporting. To be sure, Family Law cases can be emotionally challenging. I would encourage readers to disregard the comments from people that didn't receive legal services from them and add weight to the voices of the individuals, like me, who have greater peace of mind due to their legal services.

My email interactions with Cheri Kaser; Diane's paralegal, have been VERY unprofessional. Regardless of what is transpiring in our case, Cheri's emails to me were full of inflammatory statements in all-caps, bold letters, underlined and in bold Red letters at times. She made statements that attacked me personally and aggravated an already high-tension situation. My understanding is a "lawyer", who claims to have 33 years of experience, is hired to diffuse tension between the parties, NOT make them worse. The communication I got from her was so aggressively unprofessional I questioned its authenticity. When I followed up on it, asking for confirmation that the tone and word choice was intentional, Cheri confirmed it was. Additionally, she has spoken in place of Diane several times during the development of this case, giving legal advice and even administering a cease and desist order to me, but my understanding is that a paralegal that is only working for the lawyer that was actually hired, and is not allowed to do that. In conclusion, Cheri has been rude, combative, unprofessional and had grossly overstepped her role as paralegal. I would recommend not working with this lawyer based solely on this paralegal's actions and conduct.

Diane drained our bank account and we have nothing to show for it. She’s a mediocre attorney who does absolutely nothing to fight for her clients. I do not recommended her if you need an attorney that can do more than file motions.

I can honestly say that Diane Kaiser is THE worst lawyer I’ve ever dealt with. I came to her, crying, asking for her help with a very difficult custody situation with my ex withholding parenting time for 2 years with my autistic child and instead of helping me, she took advantage of me, adding even more stress to my life. Come to find out, it’s common in Colorado for 1 parent to employ parental alienation over another parent, so you don’t get parenting time with your child.

1. I think the worst part was, when I emailed her, it had been weeks, I was expecting to hear the details of my custody case settlement, hadn’t heard anything, then found out Diane had emailed my private legal documents to an unknown email address! She admitted she did this, then refused to contact this unknown person to destroy the documents, you know, how lawyers have a DUTY to protect your privacy? Nope. She wouldn’t do it.

2. In addition to all this other mess, after I hadn’t heard anything back on my custody case and had the audacity to ask, hey what happened? I get an ALL CAPS verbally abusive email from her. Talk about lack of respect for your client. This was par for the the course from the beginning, being disrespected and then even blamed for HER mistakes. She never took accountability for any of her mistakes, nor did she refund any money for billing countless hours for reading documents, then bailing on my financial case. How is this ok? Who’s working for who here?

3. Prior to that, Diane and her decades-long employed paralegal, were not up to par on technology, Dropbox. I had to coach her paralegal to help set it up for me. (I was billed for this too) I uploaded all my documents to get her up to speed on my case. Two months later, I met with her, Diane actually pretended that she had read the documents. I was suspicious and pinned her down. Turns out she hadn’t read them. She admitted to me that she hadn’t. I asked her to call her paralegal and the paralegal said she had been trying to print out an audio file? Unbelievable. She even blamed ME for not reading the documents. This was very egregious. I begrudgingly gave her a second chance, as I was potentially about a month away from going to court. Lucky for me, my case settled, due to my own diligence. Believe me, I would not have wanted to go to court with this charlatan!

4. I also hired her to handle an outstanding financial issue, she supposedly FINALLY actually read my documents a month later, she billed me for countless hours on this financial issue, but then after the custody issue settled, she announced that she was not going to do her due diligence to follow through with resolving this issue! She bailed, withdrew.

I guess it’s great to be a lawyer these days, you can charge whatever you want, bill countless hours to read documents, then withdraw, because, I mean, why not just rack up hours, get paid hourlies, as opposed to actually WORK and help your clients resolve them? I don’t even know if she read them, because she bailed, so there’s that. There’s little oversight in Colorado for lawyers. I found out that the only place to complain to, the Colorado Supreme Court, does not have jurisdiction over lawyer’s fees. This needs to change. Lawyers need to be REGULATED.

This is what I wrote to her: “I hope, in future, you learn from this, don’t just focus on hourlies, but results in your work, empathy goes a long way as well, and I hope you can find it in your heart to be kinder to your other clients, going through these similar heart-breaking custody issues, tough times in their lives, because there’s a lot of parents going through this in Colorado. Just think what it would be like for you if you were in my shoes and hadn’t seen your child in more than a year.”

I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did in hiring this unscrupulous person—charlatan. I found out that It’s a HUGE MYTH that lawyers fight for you. All are in it for the money, money, money, not their clients interests.

I would ignore those bad reviews because Diane and her paralegal were FANTASTIC with my divorce! Her years of experiences help me greatly and made this process smooth for me. She has seen it all that when the opposing party did something that seemed concerning, she assured me it was ok and she has seen this pulled before, then walked me through what she needed from me. Her prices are very reasonable compared to others and she is well verse in Colorado laws in regards for divorces. I was recommend to her from a few ladies at church who used her services for divorces and child custody and singed her praises to high haven, So obviously I took their recommendations. I'm glad I did, and I strongly recommend others do the same.

I promised to share more details and here we go. Diane came highly recommended from another attorney, a friend of mine, and I met with her and ended up retaining her. Mind you, there are more connections in terms of "family and friends" with Cheri too. First, I paid my retainer and had her represent me in a child support case. Not only did she drain my bank account, I felt I was fooled on multiple occasions. Yes, I was late in replenishing my account a few times but to be honest, she ripped me off knowing that I'm financially stressed. At the end of the day, she was fully paid and I ended up with one question before I paid them fully and Cheri's reply to me was down the line of "Diane is not willing to answer lengthy emails if my account is not paid and replenished". The end result of my case was not what either one of us was looking for, and, knowing that they did a poor job, she sent me an email with the option to stop representing me and have Cheri help me as she is cheaper on her hourly rate. In a nutshell, it was a pure monetary transaction and they are good at milking people. What hurts the most is that there was no 'human based" interaction. Now about dealing with Sheri. Yes, English is my second language, but guess what? I have a BA degree in English language and literature and I think I understand the language well enough. That being said, I was never insulted in communicating with anyone on planet earth as I was dealing with Sheri's emails. CAPS, underlines, tone, etc... It was all a messed up situation. Side note, the court said it's word, Diane sent me an email wondering if the judge doesn't like me or maybe "doesn't like her". This is not an answer a client expects from an experienced attorney with 30+ years of experience after my bank account was drained to get done with this case. As per Cheri, Diane has been doing this for so long and she can do it with her eyes closed; But unfortunately, once the judge ruled and we knew it was not a satisfactory result, all they wanted is to pull out from the case knowing that i don't have any money left.
