I was actually accepted and awarded a lawyer. We spoken on the phone even… I gave him very detailed information about my divorce case he said everything looked fine all to send me a letter Monday saying they changed their minds and are only gonna give me advice on how to file. That was definitely detrimental and not what I wanted to hear after telling me I had representation. Men have to prove they’re worthy to have their own kids even when they are present and it shouldn’t be that way!!!!

They were extremely helpful. They explained a lot of the things I did not understand. They answered all my questions and were extremely patient and supportive in helping me.

Zero stars. I was told there is no representation available and not even anyone to help with organizing paperwork for a very important upcoming court date that the opposing attorney is completely pushing me around and being critical about my paperwork. She is also completely ignoring my evidence that her client has fraudulently accused me of damages that her own move out inspection report states zero damages. But hey KLS enjoy those donations. 😡

Looking at the reviews here-glad to know I'm not alone🙄.
Asked for KLS assistance after I filed a Protection From Abuse request Spring 2023. The request was for a minor. Got told by KLS lawyer Ben "I won't represent you as no judge will sign off on a PFA request for a minor." Have had a few email conversations with same attorney last fall as the other party was not following the parenting plan. He said "well your child will be 18 in another year or so-so I don't know why you want to do anything now." Like basically just wait for my child to age out of the system when the child has been raised by 2 abusers most her childhood. Abusers that DCF has failed to acknowledge are abusive. Fast forward a year from when I asked for assistance at the protection from abuse hearing for my minor child and I am in a collections with an absolutely corrupt attorney I refuse to pay. I was hopeful and decided to fill out an application when I saw two KLS representatives at the collections court one morning a while back. I received a phone call from a KLS attorney and because of what I was in the middle of-I could not talk. He(Gabe)said he would call back the following Wednesday. I waited for 2 hours for the call in the time frame he said he would call-he never called. Because apparently-I had nothing better to do that day than to wait around 2 hours for him to call.
So today I got my letter telling me that they were not an entitlement agency and that they could not represent me.
Yes-definitely looks like they represent whoever they damn well please.
Curious as to what they do with all that grant money.

When your disabled an can't afford a attorney, an the other party is full bodied an can (who obtained counsel prior to you)...Don't bother asking Kansas Legal Services for ANY KIND OF ASSISTANCE. Anyone, anytime, in the history of your legal situations, has seeked an received even small legal counsel over the phone Will leave you with not even one question answered by OUR ONLY FREE LEGAL SERVICES IN THE STATE OF KANSAS.
WHY? YOU ASK? Conflict of interest. I have it all written out in a small paragraph that they sent me in a letter through the mail. Can't even barely state your name an they are hanging up on you.
I would like to Thank whomever is responsible for leaving disabled, an people under hardship without free legal advice or assistance... But I wouldn't know where to start 😕

They don't even deserve that star. They are unprofessional will turn off their phone and avoid all calls. Act like they don't have the resources for cases that they get grants for. Ask for the secretary/manager she acts like she runs the place

They like to give you the run around. Take all your information then tell you the last day they can't help. Thought they get grants on abused woman and children yet they won't take my case hut tell me for $2 a min they can give me advice.... They tell me they can't help me yet when I reported them I was told to ask for the head person and it's been a whole year and I still haven't even spoke or heard no from the head person. Cindy and her henchman are trash as well as this place. They help who they choose. Save your money and get a real lawyer if you need help. I wouldn't recommend this unless you don't know anyone that works for the state...isn't that right Cindy and her shadows. They don't even deserve 1 star

Everyone was timely and polite when it came to setting up the appointment, however the person I got connected with did very little research or listening to me and seemed generally uneducated. All I got from you guys was “I don’t know have you tried contacting the other party?”. Not very helpful.
