I have been a loyal customer for at least 13 years, but that ends today!

My dad and I have been going here and paying the same amount every year. He took care of his first this year and paid $160 + the new $10 charge for them to print out the documents. Nothing has changed with him or I as far as residence or work place. I didn't want to pay the new $10 charge so I elected to go the paperless route online which took at least 20 minutes to setup and was an unexpected inconvenience.

When I went in to pay I expected to pay $160 based upon what my dad paid because they won't tell you ahead of time exactly how much it will cost. I was puzzled when they said the bill was $165 and inquired why. They said that it took longer, but would not say as to why, and certainly don't provide how much time it actually took them. I left a message for the owner Jon to call me back and explain the unexpected $5 charge.

After days of no response, I left another message, and another message 2 days later. I was becoming annoyed at being ignored knowing that they knew they had been caught being deceitful and had no valid reason for the $5 charge.

I called again a week later from my first message and finally got a hold of Jon. He harshly did not want to discuss this issue with me and provided no reason for the extra $5 charge. I told him that he had lost my trust and my business and the phone call was ended.

I realize $5 is a trivial amount, but it is the principle of the matter and their integrity that I call into question and why I refuse to do business again with them.

I have been with Jon for years, I brought my immediate family to them to. We never had a yelling match as one person here said, I just don't believe that. I know mistakes can happen we are only human. Everyone makes mistakes at some point. Usually small and repairable with then taxes can be amended, if the term is used correctly. My payroll is always correct. The personal and corporate taxes are always fine, when a mistake was found, it was corrected timely. Jon has been, when asked to attend an une covid hearing(s) with lawyer present, he was present and dealing with the state at my request for financial aspects of the case. He's knowledgeable when asked questions, if he doesn't know, he will let you know later. I recommend F&A. He was a recommendation from another who is a client with him for personal and business accountings.

The year we moved to Edinboro, I needed professional help with our federal returns and so turned to Foulkrod with the intention to continue doing them on my own in future years. After discrepancies were found with our tax return, we consulted with another CPA. First we tried to have the issue looked at with F&A, that's when my wife was greeted via the phone with their associate yelling at her. She told them that we forgot a form, and that is when the female associate said not to add it because it would mess everything up. 🙄When the matter was moved to John, he also started yelling at her - because "this was the 3rd time they looked over the paperwork". After hearing all this on speaker phone, I went to the office in Edinboro, to talk to John. Where he accused my wife of telling him that she knows more than he does, when I asked if she said that verbatim, he said that's what she inferred. He told me that we were mad because we "owed" money this tax season. Truthfully, not only did we NOT owe money, it was significantly less than we had gotten from a different tax office.

0/10 on customer service, extremely belittling, not helpful, very defensive.

After our "talk" there in this office, we later recieved and e-mail stating that they would not complete our tax return. I can only assume it was because they found their mistake and did not want to own up to it.
We've been to them a couple of times, skipping a few years after not being in PA. Never will we ever go back to them.
