They never answer the phone at all or return calls. I don’t even understand the point of this place.

One time my landlord retaliated against me for calling the health department and the attorney representing me contact my landlord and he faxed her photos communicating with each other and she said that she could not make it to the arbitraration . This othere one named Barbara was so rude and nasty saying that a pregnant woman and child can get evicted without a notice on the spot. I said you should know better then that and she walked away from me.

Could not, would not recommend wasting any of your time or hope, of a free legal assistance resource with this organization. Extremely poor use of grant money, and solicited donations. Requested assistance for 94 year-old legally blind, veteran spouse seeking VA benefits for Aid & Assistance. Poor to no communication, minimal effort, scant output. NLSA is as equally appalling as the VSO services in Pittsburgh. Both organizations do however “offer” their non-existent skills, and incompetency free of charge.

Too much sass from a senior woman I spoke to. Not helpful at all. Just told me to do what I was already doing and refused to accept the fact I was already doing it.

They have repeatedly shared disinformation with me pertaining to my case, how long I have to appeal, gotten the amounts wrong on my case. They are deeply unempathetic and glib. I am disabled and they have no resources to share. They do not care. And they’re arrogant in the process. They rest soley on the fact that it’s the only option for people who are suffering through poverty, disability and/or are a minority.

Attorney I had for a PFA started out good, but then turned pretty bad. I didn't call often so I couldn't say she didn't respond to calls, however, she did change her phone number without ever telling me which was a big problem.
I get that they are busy but some of the stuff she did was really egregious, especially when it came to not telling me things that were actually important, or communicating at all, much less in a timely fashion. After I told her I would no longer be working with her, she still hadn't filed the paperwork until at least a week after I had reached an agreement with the opposing attorney.
The worst part is, if you get a bad attorney, you can't change it, all you can do is terminate your relationship and try to figure something else out without Neighborhood Legal Services help. It prevents any accountability or improvement on the part of their staff.
I am actually scared to even try working with them again, and I need representation to get divorced from a very abusive husband. It is awful.
