Was told about this line by alaska legal services. Told to call at 6pm,so I did... NO ONE ANSWERED.its open from 6-8pm supposedly and not a single person picked up the whole 2 hours.... how is this helpful to anyone?

If I could give negative stars I would. This line is a joke. I called at 6pm on the dot, it rang about 10x before going to voicemail. I called back every few minutes as the recording instructs, and not once did a person answer the phone. I made those calls back to back for almost an hour before giving up. The idea for this helpline is great, the reality is the volunteer lawyers are likely in bed with all the slumlords of Anchorage and are landlords themselves, so they put up this fake front to help tenants when behind closed doors no one GAF about tenants here. Unless you live in Cookinlet housing or AK housing properties, I'll be nice and say Roy Briley and Wiedner too, pretty much the majority of private landlords like to play ignorant of the Alaska Landlord Tenant Act and try everything in their greedy power to impede our rights and keep us uninformed of what they're actually legally required to provide for tenants. Ok rant over. Bottom line is this helpline is a beacon of false hope until they get it functioning properly.

i understand its a lot of volunteers but if youre not going to retuen the calls, the service doesnt functionally exist
part of the problem is peoppe taking advantage of thoae of us who cant afford big named firms
they commit crimes against us knowing we cant defend ourselves
constant strife, no callback, no hope
