I'm thankful for them they took my case when no one else would.
I had been on ssdi and last year ssdi cut me off after spending months going back and forth asking me to submit updated info. In the end they cut me off saying they didn't get any updated info from my Dr's. I asked my Dr and was told ssdi never requested anything from them. So I got on the phone called about a dozen law offices. The other said they o ly delta with initially getting it then I found this offce explained everything to a clerk who said they felt i had a good case but have to verify with their lawyer and would call me back. A few minutes later he was back with me getting all the details. They filed the appeal for me and did the contact with the ssdi department even kept my insurance why I was going through the process. No mind you I did have to pay for it but in the end I got the funds from them back when they gave me my ssdi back. At 60 years oul and unable to work and being 100% disabled veteran if they hadn't helped i figure i probably wouldn't have got it back this quickly if at all. They do tell you upfront that it could take about a year and a half or more so I'm pleasantly surprised that from the time I contacted them in June last year because my June payment was going to be ly last but ofcorse I didn't think about the fact you get June payment in July. So from July till first week of February . I'm very impressed.
The staff was always friendly. I never had to go into their office I did everything through phone, mail and email.
The only reason for a 4 was I still had to fill out all the paperwork for ssdi myself. When I initially got it the place that was helping me even did the paperwork for me. So that's kind of what I expected. I'm not great with filling out paperwork lol
If I contacted them they were always prompt with a response.
If I ever have a reason for a lawyer office again and it's something they handle they will have my business.

These guys were awesome!!! They took a case that we had problems getting an attorney. Most firms do not want a Social Security cessation case where there is no backpay involved. The hearing was yesterday and our attorney, Dennis, was well prepared and presented the case so well that I (witness) was not called to testify and the judge said that testimony from the vocational expert was unnecessary. My wife and I highly recommend this firm!!! And I am saying this when we won't even get a final judgement for several weeks. But we and the attorney are 99.9 % sure we will get a positive result.

If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Avard Law Firm and Carol Avard like the plague. My experience with them from February 13, 2024, to June 5, 2024, was nothing short of a nightmare. In just four months, they managed to completely derail my SSDI case, setting it back to the point where I’m now forced to appeal to the Appeals Council just to get a hearing—a step that wouldn’t even be necessary if they had done their job right.

When they took my case, it was already in a precarious state. I had already gone through the reconsideration process on my own, which took a year, only to be denied. Despite this, Avard Law Firm proceeded to re-file the same appeal I had already done, wasting even more time. The worst part? They filed the wrong paperwork! When I called Social Security myself, I was told explicitly that Avard had filed the wrong documents. When I confronted the firm about this, they flat-out lied to my face, claiming they had filed the correct paperwork, just not the “one Social Security was looking for.” What does that even mean? If it’s not what they were looking for, it’s wrong!

This wasn’t a simple mistake; it was gross negligence. They clearly didn’t care enough to even review my case properly before filing. After I called them out, they finally filed the correct paperwork, but by then, the damage was done. They botched it so badly that my request for a hearing was filed late. Now, thanks to their incompetence, I don’t even get the hearing I deserve unless I go through the Appeals Council—a highly unusual and completely unnecessary step, had they just done their jobs correctly.

I’ve been battling this case since July 2020, and this has been the worst experience by far. To think that in just four months, Avard Law Firm didn’t just fail to move my case forward—they actually ruined it. Their handling of my case was so reckless that it’s hard to believe they are still in business. Thankfully, I’m now under new representation, and I can only hope they can undo some of the damage Avard Law Firm has caused.

Save yourself the agony and choose a different law firm. Avard Law Firm is a disaster waiting to happen

* update I called the “firm” and they won’t drop their fee that takes over 25% of my backpay, even though they ruined my case completely so now I have to appeal to the judge to get them to drop the fee. Such a slap in the face. You grew in my case to the point where I have to fix it and refused to drop your fee. Yeah stay far away from them.

When I first realized that I had to file for disability I looked on the internet for law firms that handled disability cases and Avard Law had come up in my area so I immediately called them and they took the case I didn't have a clue on how to fill out any of the paperwork and I was getting so confused the staff explained things to me so I could understand . I ended up winning my disability benefits with only two months back pay. So I told the case worker I wanted to file again for the months awaiting to be officially determined to be disabled when my hands were deforming 3 years ago when I first filed and have been out of work since they immediately got on my case and filed the appeal which we are still in determination.
