i doubt if the positive reviews are from real clients (not friends/family) but my experience with Barbara and Maria is horrible. It was so hard to contact them - email and phone after I paid the retainer's fee. They were non-responsive. They filed my case much later than they should have which caused a major impact. My phone bills show how many times I tried contacting them. I used another number and all of a sudden Maria picks up. It took them more than 6 months to send me an invoice which showed ridiculous charges. Once they get your money they don't care anymore. I tried working with them and being patient for more than 6 months.There is still a lot left on the retainer fund. Even after stating horrendous charges on the invoice, they wouldn't refund a single cent from the remaining balance that they declared. Please beware. She does a good job of convincing that the negative reviews have no basis, but I should have believed the negative reviews in the first place.

I went through a high conflict divorce lasting five years with Barbara. It began in 2019 right before the pandemic. Barbara was consistent and methodical. At times when emotions were high, Barbara focused me. She understands that divorce is not about getting what you think you deserve but landing somewhere in middle. This is not to say she doesn’t fight for what is fair. She definitely does and she knows what to fight for. Barbara knows the Judges she’s standing before and approaches each hearing accordingly. Five years is a long time to work through child support, alimony, equitable distribution and many other issues along the way. I never once thought about changing representation. I would recommend Barbara any day of the week.

Where should I start this lady is just awful. I paid $300 for the office consultation where she explained how and what she could do for me in court. I agreed she made it seem like it was a easy case for her. The fee was $1500.00 I said OK. Before the court hearing I had already dropped off my file in her off which I provided her with proof, text messages, pictures of the other party it meant nothing she never went over anything. The day of the court case she preceeded to tell me I have no case and started talking to me very disrespectful and loud in the lobby. I was furious I didn't understand why would you wait till the day of court and not tell me when I first presented you with everything I had at the 1 hour consultation for $300.00. It's so much I could say honestly she is a liar who will promise you the world until she gets your money and then things change. I never had an lawyer this terrible, rude, and just down right a crook. THE WORST LAWYER EVER! Don't hire her and look elsewhere! I don't right reviews but I was compelled too never have I ever experienced anything like this! And yes I am a real person who had a real problem who I thought this lady could help! You will regret loosing you well earned money I suggest you find other representation. Before you regret your choice!

At first, retained the Services of Barbara Flum Stein in the last minute to handle my Child Support case. My ex never provided tax information, which made things difficult. I was awarded 200 dollars per kid eventhough my ex was earning around 96,000 and I was earning the half of his income the most. The child support amount remained like that since 2015 until 2024. She never gave me an account of the expenses even though I requested it several times. I will not give you more details but to say I spent much more money I should and this lady did nothing for my case, but asking for more money and money. She is not transparent and all she is interested in dragging yourself for years and years to get more money out of you. I am still not divorce and although I requested her to withdraw from my case in writing with certified letter, her office even refused to sign it and she didn’t answer my emails. She refused to withdrew my case I had to go to the Court to kick her out. She will seem good at first, but then will make you pay and pay more money. She does not work for you, she works for her pocket making things difficult so you keep stagnate on your case.

Barbara and her assistant Maria are both amazing people. I feel they listen to every concern and acknowledge them with accuracy and understanding. I have been represented professionally throughout a horrible divorce. I would recommend this firm to anyone who is in the need of not only a good lawyer but in need of a lawyer and an assistant who will actually do their best to help.

Not a very good attorney, walked my son's mom into a litigation against me whereby once my son's mom ran out of money she was going to withdraw as counsel...I am very litigious and had an unlimited budget to litigate...Barbara didn't factor this in and chose to walk my son's mom to her demise.

In the end I got exactly what I wanted, and Barbara drained all the money out of my son's mom. As a good person I ended up reimbursing my ex for her attorney fees so she wasn't hurt...my son's mom is a good woman just not very smart and when she gets angry can go jihad...which is exactly what Barbara walked her into legally...luckily I have a heart and helped her get back on her feet after some very bad legal advice.

I can’t find just one word to describe Barb, but if I had to choose it would be PATIENT! She was so understanding with my nerves and anxiety, instead of saying stop doing this or that, she simply said BREATHE! I am so grateful for the long grueling phone calls and e-mails and millions of questions, and not one complaint from her towards me. She always snapped me back into reality when something I “wanted” most likely wouldn’t fly in court, so she found a solution and made it happen! Thanks to her my daughter has a great chance to improve in life and be happy with both her parents who are not under one roof!

Her secretary Maria is another amazing person! Both just over all wonderful people and I hate to say I hope I don’t need to go back to court but if I do ever in the future, I know I’m in good hands!

I had conducted a Google search for custody lawyers in my area and Barbara's website was the first to come up. I liked what I read and made my consultation with her. I was even happier when I went in for that consult not having any knowledge about divorce, child support and custody. I left there feeling reassured that moving forward with my divorce would be much less daunting than I thought it was going to be. I knew upon leaving her office, that I wanted Barbara to represent me. That was over two years ago and I can honestly say that working with Barbara through my divorce, child support and custody has been absolutely seamless. And as challenging as these hearings can go at times, Barbara does her job so well that I always leave confident in knowing that things always work out. Barbara is a very experienced lawyer and her assistant Maria is truly amazing as well. They understand the emotions that a parent goes through when dealing with settling a divorce or discussing what is best for the child or children involved. Two years later, I am still working with Barbara and I can tell you when I left her office this week, everything worked out so well with finalizing my divorce and adjusting my custody agreement. I can't thank Barbara and Maria enough for supporting me both legally and emotionally.
