Currently closing on a $1 mm plus property and using this firm to handle the title and related closing process. The interaction with Brad, CC&D's real estate attorney, was unpleasant and I believe to be unprofessional. A signature was required by my ex wife who was vacationing in northern Florida with plans to return to her Texas home the day before closing. The logistics of using fed-x would not suffice thus a mobile notary was needed. The emails between my ex wife and Brad were terse and condescending. ( I read each note ) When confronted by this tone by my ex wife, his response was defensive and argumentative.... justifying his earlier communications. I've used no less than 25 plus title companies over the years on transactions in the 100k to 300k range and have received timely and flexible service since my travels required remote signings. This should have been no big deal had there been a "service orientation". This however, was contentious and so very unnecessary. I asked to speak to Brad when I was in their office to sign my paperwork; he was out of the office. I asked Ashley, CC&G's Paralegal, who was very pleasant, to convey my observations and experience in this regard; if she did, Brad did not attempt to reach out in any form to apologize for his behavior. Glad we didn't have any substantive issues, that would have been a real treat.

Follow up note following a call from Tom Conroy:

I heard from Tom Conroy as a result of the initial Google review. I explained to him my rationale and while he thought one of the string of emails was somewhat unnecessary, generally felt their communications were justified and represented their client well. As a proof point, indicated the buyer planned to submit a positive review of their firm.

For what it is worth, Conroy, Conroy and Durant represented the buyer only. Perhaps this explains the respective tone. I was under the false impression that title companies/real estate legal services were interested in the property and guaranteeing the title and related disclosures. I believe title companies would be a preferred neutral party to complete these types of transactions. If the selection of a closing entity is not optional, I would suggest retaining an attorney to represent your interest if you are on the opposite side of any firm such as this.
