I was being sued, a civil case. I contacted Douglas Law firm and hired them to represent me. They required a $5k retainer. The person suing me dropped the case before court. Lewis Law firm kept the ENTIRE $5k retainer. I am appalled that a reputable law firm would conduct such a practice. Of course I did not expect the entire retainer fee to be returned. I assumed the time spent would be billed against the retainer and the balance returned to me. A letter to the Florida Bar is next.
