A Personal Experience

"I called and was on hold for under 5 mins. The person I talked to, was very helpful. Went in there as I was suggested. Signed up in the work source, the woman there was super nice and answered any questions I had. I’m originally from Oregon, and the offices there are horrible. What I got done today in 1 hour, would have taken two days, and making an appointment just to go in there in the first place."

The employment navigators state they “actively” look to find new internships but do not. Was told late 2023 all internships were filled up and would open if funding is available in 2024. Funding is available but somehow no one wants to take interns anymore. I am some one with a college education and professional work history and received no help from this office. They have one bilingual internship sitting open for six months. As many others have stated, this office is very political and their interest isn’t to help majority of Weld County citizens.

I went in person to register so that I could file for unemployment insurance, and my claim was nearly denied because they never submitted my registration. I had to register myself online, Even though I had already registered in person nearly 10 days prior. I essentially waited in the lobby for half an hour to go through a 30-minute registration process that didn't even end up being submitted in the first place, so I was showing as unregistered. Most of the staff were also unkind and seemed reluctant to assist clients.

Other than the long 5 hours waiting on the ID ME video chat, the staff is always helpful and super nice. I was well taken care of by the young lady front receptionist and the solid team that in the back helping weld county residents get back on track. The gentleman with the braids and glasses is a true helping hand for sure, If it wasn't because of him I do believe I would of not had success today. A place that actually cares and has patience especially with people like me with dyslexia.

Kind of pathetic that a government building does not accept cash.

Very troubling results, or lack there of, from these folks. I am not really surprised as life in Weld County leaves alot to be desired because of county services. Specifically there are politics in that office that hurts the level of guidance, direction and valuable advice anyone can receive. It's tradgeic the workforce center should be much better than this given the state has located funds to help job seekers. I wasted time trying to work through the misdirection I recieved.

I don't have anything good to say about the people that work at either the Ft. Lupton office or the Greeley office. I applied for the state grant to pay for certification, wrote a well thought out essay as required and the lady in Ft. Lupton never sent it. I asked two more times if she could take care of it, and she never did anything with it.

Then after five months of unemployment they offered resume writing advice. I took them up on it to get any advantage I could. I met with their so called "expert" in Greeley who advised me to take a minimalist approach and condense my resume to one page that just focused on key words, rather than actual experience. I presented the final resume and they approved it and said "it looks great".

I went from getting regular interviews to not get selected for a single phone call for two months with the recommended minimalist resume. I abandoned it for my long-form I had been using, and immediately started getting interviews again.

These people don't know their head from a hole in the ground, and do absolutely nothing positive or beneficial. I would have been better off never wasting a single second with them other than to apply and collect unemployment. They are totally incompetent.

Margret is an amazing woman. She helped navigate the issues with our benefits and made sure we got an interview the morning we came in due to the problems we were having. She was compassionate, understanding and a delight to speak to. Give this woman a raise
