This is one of the highlight of our trip. We sailed with Captain Casey and his brother Kyle. Theresa even made hot cocoa for us since it was a little chilly on the water that day. She greeted us at the Excursion Centre and drove us back to our ship when it was all done.

Our experience was simply amazing. Very informative and more importantly this was very respectful of the whale’s natural environment.
We heard this tour was great and it did not disappoint. We spend 3 hours watching whales and even got to see a group of Orca’s.

Loved every minute of this experience.
I would highly recommend if you are looking for a great experience.

WOW, what an amazing tour we did with Glacier Wind Charters!!
We were a small group on the smaller boat and had such a wonderful time.
We saw many whales and their tails, a bear on the shoreline and lots of harbor seals.
Pictures only show a fraction of the beauty of nature and its creatures in their natural habitats.
1000% recommend this tour to anyone that has a stop in Icy Straight Point / Hoonah!

I couldn't recommend this tour more! We booked this tour outside our cruise line and are so glad we took the leap! This was our first stop on our cruise and definitely our favourite! Our group of 4 was so impressed by the knowledge and passion by the guides. They ensured we had the best time and even kept us a bit beyond the time to make sure we saw the most whales possible. We saw more than we ever imagined and way closer than we thought possible! We will recommend this tour to everyone we know going to Alaska - we learned so much about Hoonah and were so impressed by authenticity of the guides. What an amazing first stop!

We had the absolute most incredible experience with Glacier Winds! We liked supporting a family business and were so grateful for the expertise and depth of knowledge of our captains. They know when and where to go and we got the most amazing show. We saw orcas at the very beginning of the tour but when we got further in, we were able to see 3 bubble net feedings and there were about 20 whales participating. They were so close to the boat. We were able to stay a little longer because it was such an amazing experience, even for our crew who does this every day. Since it is a family operation, we had the freedom to spend a little extra time. Don’t hesitate to book with them outside of the cruise ship. They are top notch and will have you back with plenty of time. This was the absolute best part of our whole Alaska trip. Incredible!

We were lucky enough to tour with Glacier Wind on 9/4/2024. I can't say enough great things about them. Every interaction from booking to touring was wonderful! They are a small, family owned and operated business and it shows. Captain Shawn was informative and always on the lookout for more viewing opportunities. We saw humpback whales and Orcas. It was a great experience!

We had an incredible experience whale watching in Icy Strait Point with Glacier Wind Charters. We booked this excursion ourselves outside of the cruise line and are so glad we did. We were on a smaller boat than the cruise line excursions and Captain Casey & 1st Mate John were so personable and knowledgable about everything we saw. It was the experience of a lifetime and I can't recommend it enough. And yes...that picture of the whale breaching is real!

The wife and I had a wonderful experience with Glacier Wind Charters. All though it was rainy and foggy with limited visibility we were able to see many whales. The crew was very knowledgeable and the boat was very nice and comfortable being it only held 13 people, actually that is why we chose Glacier Wind. Well worth the price and would gladly choose them in the future. We were short on time due to our limited time at this port, but they had us back with plenty of time to board.

We had an absolutely wonderful time on our tour with Glacier Wind Charters! It was the highlight of our trip to Alaska. We booked this excursion outside of the cruise ship offerings and I’m SO glad we did. It was hands-down the best excursion we took the entire cruise and way better than anything we booked through the cruise line. You can tell immediately how much this family cares about their home in Hoonah and taking care of their customers. They are so knowledgeable and friendly. They went above and beyond to give us an amazing tour!! We saw a ton of orca, humpbacks and sea otters. Don’t hesitate to book this tour if you are visiting Hoonah!
