Absolute nightmare. Zero communication. They send 1 email a year, you can’t respond to. Always an awful experience trying to get answers. Settled 2 debts and I still have no clue for how much they ended up being settled for. Now they got sued in NY and can no longer represent me. Leaving a $11k debt out there. $5k I paid, unaccounted for. Math doesn’t add up. No one answers the phone, on hold for literally hours, and no response to emails. Now have a $11k credit card with missed payments off 3 years, since when I first started with Great Lakes. These people need to be prosecuted by the attorney general. Ruining lives.

Signed up and was told they would help with credit debt. Only negotiated two accounts. Two of my accounts went to judgment and was told to send them the paperwork they would assist. Nope they didn’t do anything and I ended up having paychecks being garnished. Been in program over a year and in the last 8 months cannot get anyone to contact me back. They don’t answer emails and when you call your on hold for over two hours or more before taking to a human being and they still cannot help you. Now my credit score is shot and more going out to judgement. Do not use them or get suckered in.

ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY FROM THIS FIRM! For 15 months they "represented" me and didn't resolve any of my debt accounts. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone through their automated service, and the lawyer that I was appointed rarely returned my calls. They ended up having to drop me as a client because their vendor is getting sued and they could no longer accept any fees. I wish I could sue them for malpractice.

They were supposed to help me with my unsecured debts, reduce my monthly payments, etc. Well after a few months, and after doing absolutely nothing that would assist me, they dropped my representation and on top of that took over $500 in fees that i cannot get back. This has to be one of the worst debt lawfirms imo!

I hired this company to assist me with overwhelming debt I had incurred. I had never had a late payment to my creditors but had many of them owing a lot of money. I was under the impression I would not make payments to these creditors and several months later this company would start negotiating with them. I was definitely wrong. I learned after 8 months of making payments to Great Lakes Law Firm totalling over $7,000 they do NOT work with the creditors until we have the money in our account. The problem is 99% of the money I had paid GLLF went directly to THEIR fees. $7k. The ONLY debt they negotiated for me was a debt of $600. That's it. That's all. After 9 months of making payments to GLLF I was offered a debt consolidation loan for 20%. $130 more a month than the payments I had been making. Why wasn't i offered this before I gave them over $9K of my money, when my credit was good? I had a credit score of 734 before I made the worst financial decision in my life and hired Great Lakes Law Firm. If you are really behind on your payments this process may benefit you but don't do this program if you are just overwhelmed with debt and have a good credit score. I was sued by THREE creditors and now have this on my state record. Dropped to a credit score of 549. I should have worked with a company that offered debt consolidation immediately but I didn't and suffered greatly financially while GGLF took over $9K of my money and only settled a $600 debt. I am disgusted at how this process actually worked. If I was actually told 99% of my payments would be going to fees and I would have to accumulate thousands and thousands outside of these fees before they would even work with my creditors I would have NEVER agreed to this. It would have taken me years to accumulate enough to negotiate with just one creditor of $13K. I feel naive to have believed the representative when she told me this program would be good for me. She flat out lied.

I am just now over a year into this with GLLF. I have given them about $5000 in that time. Only one settlement offer has come to us and they have chosen to only make $15 per month payments to that creditor with our money. We have been sued twice now. When we were served, we sent the paperwork to GLLF as instructed and nobody did anything, including just telling us what to do. Now one of those two has put in a judgement against us for the money owed and the other soon will as well since GLLF chooses to do nothing when the clients that pay for their services are in need of actual assistance. I saw other reviews that happened recently, all having the same experience as me with this place. DO NOT use this law firm if you are in debt and have a good credit score. It is possible they would help better for those in debt that have bad credit already. In the last year, however, my husband and I both went from scores in the 700s to scores down to nearly 500. From what I can see, my husband could have done a much better job negotiating with the credit card companies than this law firm has. DO NOT recommend. RUN away before you get scammed too!

I chose one star because I could not choose zero or less. STAY AWAY from this crime family. $690/mo since April of 2023 and not a single creditor has been contacted or alerted to what they claim to be doing with my money: settling debt. Finally called to cancel and get my funds returned. How much do I get back? $58. $58?!!? What have you done with all my money, GLLF? Certainly did not represent me or contact my creditors and CERTAINLY did not earn ANY of what I paid you for. You should get the $58 and that would still be an overpayment for services you supposedly provided. If I performed in that manor at my job, I would be fired. Complete ripoff and totally taking advantage of people's dire situations. I will share this review as far as I can on every platform I can. You should be stopped from any future offerings to the public.
