I needed to take a moment to appreciate and share the wonderful experience I had working with HKM. Shifa Alkhatib, Sandra Jonas, and Molly Dolinger have been the most supportive, honest, informative and attentive attorneys I have had the pleasure of working with. They advocated for me and made a difficult process/situation easier to handle. They provided guidance throughout the entire process and were easily reachable if I had any questions. I contacted Shifa Alkhatib, Esq. with an unusual and challenging breach of contract issue that had been dragging on for nearly two years. She listened attentively to my story and offered options both for engaging with HKM as well as for advocating for myself. I cannot adequately underscore how kind, understanding, and patient Shifa was with me. I am on the autism spectrum, and have ADHD, and I don't often find professionals of her caliber who take the time to hear me out. Within a month of speaking with Shifa, one of the options we discussed worked and a resolution was reached with my now-former employer. Fantastic experience, took the time to hear my case and gave great advice. It's difficult to find an employment attorney that is willing to listen because there are a lot of people that get fired and have an emotional reaction and want to sue. Especially since Arizona is at Will state, it makes it very difficult to have a meritorious claim.

But Shifa has been fantastic, and seems very intelligent and down to earth.

HKM refused to represent me for an unknown reason. They sent an email that stated a list of possible reasons for why they refuse to accept my case, but nothing specific (see photo). I thought my case was somewhat simple enough: I’m a team truck driver who was seriously injured while off duty and sleeping in the bunk because another truck pulled out in front of my husband, who was the active driver, causing a collision. I was later terminated by my employer for “safety” reasons related to the crash. I have since been refused employment by many employers because of that wrongful termination. I was seriously injured, wrongfully terminated, and slandered to the point that I cannot find work in the trucking industry , but HKM can’t specify why they refuse to represent me. If I have been wrongfully barred from the trucking industry, what am I supposed to do? I am too old to try to start a new career from scratch.
HKM was very courteous and professional on the phone and the rejection email wasn’t rude. Therefore, I give HKM two stars, instead of one.
