I've been a client of KCA since 2021 and could not be happier. I first began to look for a financial advisor after I had a wakeup call about my 401k that was held in Vanguard. Like many people, I'm sure, I always paid attention to the advice that one should invest the max in 401k, get the matching and leave the funds alone. I never gave much thought to how my account was managed and I opted for the fee-based management that Vanguard provided. Around the time of the pandemic, I called to get advice from them about being older and how I would survive a market downturn. The agent that I spoke with was annoyed by the request and told me, "we don't time the market. We rely on an algorithm." I found that response unnerving and when I checked my accounts, I was being charged thousands of dollars annually for this advice.
I realized that I had two choices, bone up on investing, or seek help elsewhere. I don't remember how I found Brian Kennedy and KCA, it was probably just through a google search on who I could meet with in-person. From the first day that I met with KCA, I knew this was different than what I'd done in the past. They were never in a hurry to sell me products, respected my space to think over and discuss it with my family, and were always happy to answer my questions, even when I asked the same ones three times.
It turned out that becoming a client of KCA could not have been better timed. I was early retired as part of the pandemic restructuring at my firm, and my life changed completely. Brian had a plan for my retirement before I thought I needed one.
I planned on working for many more years in my career, but then all that changed. It turned out that I love being retired.
I've been away from my firm for four years and I feel like I haven't missed a beat. My daughter is in college, I work a small job to keep active and I feel confident that I have a secure plan to take me through the rest of my life. KCA provides me with more than just sound financial advice. They helped me to realize the importance of estate planning, gave me insurance advice that I didn't know that I needed, and continue to help me plan for the future in all sorts of ways.
Everyone at KCA is always happy to take my calls. Although I'm still no expert with investing, (I don't want to become one one) I can access my portfolio any time of day or night and I can see that it's being managed well.
We don't know what the future holds. But, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't plan for it. I'm just so happy and relieved that I made the decision to go with KCA.
