Cute little airport. You have to take a ferry to get across the water into town. The shortest ride you can imagine. Fun to watch what happens all around as you’re on your way across.

View from a passing Cruise ship. So why such a large airport for such a small looking town. Because you cant leave Ketchikan by road. It is on an isolated island. I've never flown into Ketchikan, but I love the location and presence. It has an attached floatplane dock and ferry terminal (for hopping across from Ketchikan).

Very cool airport and insanely easy to navigate. With only two gates, the terminal was super small but still had a nice gift shop, watering hole, and shop that serves food and drinks. One of the coolest parts is the airport is on island West of Ketchikan and you have to take a ferry to get over to town. We rented a car from Budget and while I was getting our keys, we were able to buy passes for ourselves and the car (plus passes to return). The ferry ride only takes a few minutes but it was such a fun experience. Coming back to check in for our flight was equally a breeze. There was nobody else on the ferry and when we went inside, we were the only ones going through the check-in process and security. It was a late flight so the gift shop was closed, but we could still get food and drinks.

A very unique airport that involves taking a ferry to access. Have flown out of KTN on Delta Airlines and Alaska Airlines, as well as worked with private jets. A few noteworthy things at this airport - one is that the restaurant can serve food through a window in the wall to customers outside of security. A float plane dock gives access to boaters as well which is a fun thing, being able to boat to an international airport. Free luggage carts and a great little restaurant. Friendly staff.

Great airport small but professional. You will need to take the ferry across from the city but it runs every 30 minutes or so and a whole $6. Once inside security is fast and efficient. Once inside there is a small pub, a small restaurant and a small store( get all your souvenirs before you come). Easy, efficient and fast.

Small, crowded, but friendly.

Very thorough at the security gates. Very thorough.

Have to take a ferry across to Ketchikan. That’s kinda fun.

There’s a small store, a small bar with $8 pints, and a small sandwich place with pre-made sandwiches.

Note: written from the perspective of a helicopter pilot, using the airport as a refueling stop.

Without a Control Tower -- just a FSS Advisory Service -- it PAKT is easy to get in and out of. Long, wide, clear, well-maintained surfaces with good visibility.
