I was referred to this office by a well known attorney. I called for an appointment on two occasions, explained my situation and was told there is a consultation fee "up to" $100.00. My appointment was at 9am. The staff didn't come to the glass to greet me. A woman pointed to a room and asked me to wait. The attorney was over 15 minutes late. She did not apologize for the wait. She immediately jumped into it without explaining who she was, credentials, expectations or strategies. She spoke a lot about herself, gave opinions and that took up much of the time. I learned that she did legal work on the property I was there to put into probate. That immediately felt like a conflict on interest. She pulled that file and used it as she explained my dilemmas.
I left with no action plan, not much more information than I arrived with and being charged $150.00 (over the amount quoted). A dog was allowed in the room. The table appeared unkept and unsanitized as I saw fingerprints and other items.
I feel slighted as I was prepared and expecting to pay $100, meet on time and leave with a plan of action in place. I am worried that the conflict of interest will affect my case.
Her advice was to not probate either property and to sit and wait to see what the other party does next. I contacted the referring attorney. He apologized and referred someone else.
