The name is a lie In it's self "southern poverty law center" at first I thought it was a charity because it's called southern poverty. But its just a partisan group that bashes people that are "hateful" when they aren't an the research is limited. Most studys just call the people in "hate watch" "far right" or "right wing extremism" which I would encourage the people who do these studys to look up these words before they use them.

The hatred in the poor reviews of this organization are exactly why SPLC exists. Hate groups are alive and well in the United States and have been given a voice by the highest office of this country. If you are not a member of the groups of people targeted by these hate groups, it might be impossible for you to understand what is happening.

It was the SPLC that crippled the KKK. None of our law organizations were able to accomplish that. And now, they are seeking to extinguish all the new hate groups that have crawled out of their caves. That is an admirable and much needed mission.

As a minority in this country, where it is once again ok to spew your thoughts and take action against minorities, I will continue to financially support the SPLC and keep their leaders in my prayers.

I am a LONG-TIME member and feel my money is could not be better spent. As a human and a teacher, the information and resources SPLC provides has helped me and my students understand the deep seated, institutionalized, as well as subtle racism in this country and how much it has harmed our "democracy". Only folks who are terribly ignorant or getting paid to post lies, fear, and far right propaganda would say SPLC promotes hate.

If you wonder why racial and political divide in this country has grown worse, you can blame organizations like the SPLC. They vow to do good but do the complete opposite. They will turn on you the moment your demographic doesn't fit their leftist cause.

I've been a member for over 15 years. I can tell you they do not persecute religion, just those that might be using the facade of religion as a front to discriminate against others. They do good work on a variety of causes. If you have a problem with them, you might want to look at yourself as you might be part of the problem.

I asked the front desk educator questions and they refused to answer on the basis that my questions on reparations “were ill intentioned”. I responded that I was ignorant of this subject and wanted help understanding. Further, numerous dioramas were factually incorrect.More or less a museum for communism and intolerance from our perspective…

Hypocrisy at its finest. I wish I didn't have to give them even one star. It's interesting that you say you monitor hate group when you yourself is a hate group organization targeting Christians and Jews and labeling them as white supremist. This is disgusting

SPLC does excellent work for justice. (Ignore the bad review with its usual flawed logic and grammar.) Note that these are offices and require an appointment to visit. There is more to see across the street at the SPLC supported Civil Rights Memorial Museum.
